Mission

Horizontes offers People with Intellectual Disabilities and their families special education and integration services, based on their needs and wishes, contributing to combating social stigma and recognizing them as equal citizens.

Goals

• The support and implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) of the United Nations (Resolution 61/611 of the UN General Assembly), in all its provisions.
• The recognition of the adulthood of People with Intellectual Disabilities.
• To support mental health and address social stigma for People with Intellectual Disabilities and their families.
• The development of the personality of People with Intellectual Disabilities.
• Social adaptation and integration through programs of socialization and participation in recreational-cultural-sports events.
• The training and creative employment of the trainees in the specialized training workshops with the aim of work integration.
• The training of People with Intellectual Disabilities in daily life activities that enhance self-care and, by extension, their self-esteem.
• The provision of equal opportunities for People with Intellectual Disabilities in the fields of education, independent living and work by ensuring them an all-round support.
• The development of partnerships within the framework of a sustainable network.
